Shehu Abdullahi is back in full training with his Cypriot first division club Omonia after being sidelined with injury.

Abdullahi announced his return to full training on his Twitter handle on Friday.

The 28-year-old was one of several Super Eagles stars who missed this years Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

The likes of Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, Samuel Kalu, Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo we’re all ruled out because of injuries.

But this will be good news for the Eagles as they get set to face the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in March.

And commenting on his return to training, Abdullahi wrote on his Twitter handle:”I’m excited to return to full training. I appreciate your support and prayers. The love I got from the team management, coaching staff and my teammates was overwhelming.”

It would be recalled that the Eagles crashed out of the AFCON 2021 in the round of 16 after losing 1-0 to Tunisia.

Complete sports which one be Eagles get boost ahead of WCQ? Why are you guys making a case for the player? On a good day, should Shehu Abdullahi be an integral member of the team? Why should his return from injury be a boost when he shouldn’t even be named for the games against Ghana? You guys really have to up your game and stop this needless reporting

What GOODNEWS? Who will a CYPRUS based player bench in current SE? Even his uncle AHMED MUSA has no place in that tram. If they want to continue this QOUTA SYSTEM then they can invite ALHASSAN YUSUF who is far better than SHEHU.

I hope this reported update on the SE coaching arrangement is true.

EGUAVOEN, AMUNEKE TO TAKE CHARGE, PASEIRO’s PLANNED APPOINTMENT ABANDONED

“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finally settled for its Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen, as the substantive coach of the Super Eagles with former international, Emmanuel Amuneke, as his assistant.

Daily Sunsports exclusively gathered that the choice of both Eguavoen and Amuneke was arrived at a meeting between the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare and officials of the NFF, yesterday, in Abuja.

According to our impeccable source, the Minister nullified the planned appointment of Portuguese Jose Peseiro and ordered the immediate draft of Eguavoen and Amuneke to the Super Eagles.

Also, the meeting agreed to give Eguavoen a two-year contract with an improvement on his salary from the present N3 million, although the source did not disclose the new salary.

The development comes after Eguavoen’s ‘impressive’ performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where he led the Super Eagles to hundred percent performance in the group stage before crashing out in the round of 16 to Tunisia.

Already, the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), through its president, Isah Ladan Bosso, had queried the appointment of a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles, stating that no foreign coach had ever won a World Cup in the history of the competition.

Bosso said with equal welfare and a good atmosphere, the Nigerian coaches can do better than their foreign counterparts because they understand the playing culture of Nigeria.

Also, scores of Nigerians, including renowned coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, had called for the retention of Eguavoen as the Super Eagles technical adviser.

Chief Onigbinde argued that if Eguavoen, with just about a month to the start of the AFCON, could come up with the performance in Cameroon, he should be encouraged to continue with the team.”

That sports minister is dangerous! He ruins everything he touches the sooner he leaves that position the better for our sports.
What do you expect from indigenous coaches to support the appointment of a foreign coach?

Even with Egu and Amunike taking charge, the SE are far from the dreamland. Who takes the place of Aloy Agu? As at now, goalkeeping is our weakest department. To paraphrase someone (??Deo) “once the defenders are beaten, the ball will enter”.

One can see clearly that Agu either has soiled hands, is incompetent or is a spineless accomplice to hold SE down. What was the reason for inviting the 4th goalkeeper if not to keep players like Dessers away?

If Agu is left untouched, forget it!

Is a boost for you complete Sports. Shame on you lots. You call this man a player, a boost for the World Cup qualifying, that’s how you guys messes up the coaches head with rubbish players and then when they lost, they start blaming innocent players. He’s not needed.

Is it the same Abdullahi Shehu that salvaged our midfield in Freetown they are talking down at?He may not be a fantastic player but had put in decent shifts when called upon.
In fact, had we had Shehu against Tunisia to partner Ndidi in the central midfield,we probably would still be in Cameroon.
Shehu Abdullahi will definitely be in the squad to Ghana.

That’s why I said Gernot messed a lot of players up. He never changes his team. There were occasions he could have dressed Shehu for us to see him more because I am one of those who feel is actually decent. But opportunities were many under Rohr to try different options but because he stays in France and coach us with remote technology he only ever entertained people for which his mind holds no doubt with… That was same reason why Akpoguma also never really showed what he could do before Nigerians, Umeruo who also did well in Egypt was also never a prominent feature… Since 2018 WC. The future starts with a contract to Eguaveon and Amuneke and WC playoff against Ghana.

@JimmyBall, Unroll you get the point that you are just avian, which is far below than a commentator.

You will never understand why a coach chooses certain players over others.

Complain from now till tomorrow about how Rohr messed up players from the point of your fanhood.

You can never understand that fact. Plain and simple. Gernot Rohr chose the players he felt comfortable with.

This is the same way Egu chose the players to play a match because he trusts them.

If you don’t understand that, please hug transformer.

I believe we have better players than Ghana. Although the game will be 50-50. However, we must approach the game in a no nonsense manner. I really want to watch this team play another WorldCup together. Irrespective of who is in charge of the games we must be physically ruthless against the Black Stars. From all indications Amunike has agreed to assist the coaching crew. Let’s hope all hands are on deck to scale through Ghana and reach the WorldCup. We have a team that can capture the world’s imagination again. Obviously, we’re not winning the WorldCup, but our reputation must be intact.

A beg don’t deceive yourself. Ghana has better players than Nigeria. Imagine their goalkeepers play for Swindon Town and St Fallen of Switzerland. They have strikers in Yeni Malatyaspor and Beitar Jerusalem. Are those the calibre of players that your Super Chickens want to play. my guy prepare to watch the world cup at home.

Let’s see what will happen. I know for sure I will see some real gigantic battles in the WorldCup playoffs next month. I can only hope we scale through I can’t wish my team bad because of who’s in charge far from it. I can only point out where they fall short if things don’t go our way. With the caliber of players we have, even though they’re not convincing to be honest. We definitely have a chance against Ghana. We just have to do away with this 40 year old tactics and deploy the players on merit.
