Kelechi Nwakali has promised to do his best at his new Spanish Segunda Division club, SD Ponferradina, reports Completesports.com.
Nwakali is looking to get his career back on track after he was sacked by sacked SD Huesca in March.
The Nigeria international ran into trouble at the club after returning late from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 23-year-old turned down offers from a number of clubs to join Ponferradina.
“I will try to do my best so that the season is the best it can be,” he vowed.
“We will step up on our pre-season preparations so that we will be ready when the new season begins on August 15.”

You are so right.. Nwakali was punished for representing Nigeria at the Afcon. He will play well in this new club so that he can contribute to the success of the Super Eagles under Peseiro.

So it was the NFF or AFCON that prevented him from performing at Arsenal, MVV Maastrich, VVV Venlo, Porto B, Huesca and Alcoron before his joining Ponferradina?
Can’t you all see that the young man is grossly overrated? I mean, look at someone like Kingsley Michael of Bologna. Wasn’t he a substitute for this same Nwakali at the U17WC? Where is he now and where is Nwakali.
Yet people here are still talking of Nwakali and the Super Eagles.

See wether you are member of his family or friends I don’t know. What you ppl should in critisicing them is the fact that many fans love this guy, want him to be better and always get disappointed whenever he is not going in the direction we want.

The dude has been playing well in Europe and we are blaming him. That was how people were blaming Umar Sadiq because Gerard wasn’t using him at Rangers. He left there and went to a Spanish second division club and there was more mockery on him. Today there is a bidding war for him.

Both Iheanacho and Nwakali were rated best U17 golden ball winners. Both were signed by EPL clubsides. One has been in the EPL ever since, while the other has been a journeyman year in year out. Is that not a fact?
Even if we took out the point made about Arsenal (according to you, it is ‘hard’ to secure a starting spot there), does that then justify his poor performances at ALL the other clubs he has been at? And yes, I did watch his performances at Huesca and he was mainly a substitute. This means he wasn’t deemed good enough to start by the coach. This trend was similar with most of the other clubs he played for.
Look, I hope the boy does well in his footballing career. The truth of the matter is that he is just not SuperEagles material. Nigeria has way too many good young players that we need to be focusing on and Kelechi Nwakali is certainly not one of them (he is almost 25 and hasn’t had any traction in his career). The likes of Osimhen, Chukwueze, Kingsley and Orji Okonkwo have made headway in their careers. Others in sets behind his, like Akinkunmi Amoo, Samson Tijani and Olakunle Olusegun are doing very well in their careers and are a step away from the Super Eagles. Your boy is still playing Div 2 ball at almost 25. This is not personal but a statement of fact.

Please leave the poor Man alone, we not there to know if he is putting in his best or not. All the names you keep comparing him with how many of them play first team football. Even Ihenancho, how many games has he being relevant in the EPL. It’s not his choice to be playing in division 2. He’s not the only player in the team.
