Arokodare Scores In Third Consecutive Game In Genk’s 4-3 Win At Beerschot

Tolu Arokodare scored two goals as Genk pipped Beerschot 4-3 away on matchday 4 of the Belgian Jupiler on Saturday.

Arokodare has now scored in three consecutive league games this season and also taken his tally to four goals in four games so far in the Belgian topflight.

His Nigerian teammate Yira Sor was also in action for Genk and had an assist.

Sor was later taken off in the 69th minute while Arokodare was substituted in the 90th minute.

Genk have now won back-to-back league games after four fixtures played.

In the 64th minute Arokodare got his second goal after he was set up by Sor to make it 4-2.

Last season Arokodare netted 12 goals in 40 league games for Genk.

Orji what makes him stupid for expressing his opinion . And mine you Nigeria are not foolish people. Ask Messi different names they called him after failed attempts to win World Cup for Argentina . If Messi can be a victim of fans opinion who is Osimhen that people can not blast .
Having said that, Arokodare to me personally is not in the same level with Osimhen by any standard. Osi is a goat.

swedish coach Janne Andersson is the new super eagles coach.

Is it true the the Super Eagles have a new Coach?

deo can exclusively confirm that former coach of Sweden Jan Olof ‘Janne’ Andersson will be most unexpected new coach of the Super Eagles.

The 61 years old planner, strategist and tactician was actually coach of Sweden between 2016 and 2023.

He qualified the Scandinavian nation to the 2018 World Cup as well as the 2020 Euros, but failed to qualify them for the 2022 World Cup as well as the 2024 Euros.

He has no working experience in Africa.

His immediate assignment will be qualifying Nigeria for next year’s Afcon before turning his attention to reviving the West Africans’ flailing World Cup hopes from next February.

Lack of experience in working in Africa is an immediate disadvantage of this appointment to me. Also, recent failures to qualify his country for major tournaments is an obvious red flag.

That said, he started pretty well with Sweden, qualifying them for the 2018 World Cup and 2020 Euros where they reached the knockout stages.

He also plays a formation traditional to Nigeria and at home with the fans in 4-4-2 double 6 which should take advantage of our dashing wingers and deadly strikers. Perhaps this factor endeared him to some old school stakeholders of Nigerian football who long to see the Super Eagles thrive under this sort of arrangement.

Andersson is hungry for success after the later part of his contract with Sweden when sour.

He is no doubt a high profile coach having once been named the 14th best coach in world football.

I genuinely think he is a marquee appointment. With a stature, background and experience worthy of leading a prestigious team like the Super Eagles, this coach ticks the right boxes.

That said, his handling of the back-to-back Afcon qualifiers will set the tone as to whether or not it actually turned out to be an inspired choice.

I don’t know why, but I’m feeling this appointment.

CSN no go report the news until NFF officially released the statement and email it to them, stamped and seal. Then they will call Olajire to confirm the email is genuinely from them. Lol

@Kel My only fear is that @NFF must be up to something before they employ someone that was not shortlisted for interviews. I hope we are safe because a leopard can not shed it skin no matter how it tries to alter it. Meanwhile it was sad to see Israel losing that first against the younger lad for SA. The online banter is fierce as we speak!!!!

Something is definitely wrong on this platform.I barely comment here, I only read the vibrant exchanges among very knowledgeable forumite. For a while that vibrancy is gone, just some sub par analysts.I met another forumite on another platform who informed me that Completesports bar a lot of forumites from the site.If this is true, the the paper list it, as what actually drives traffic to the site is not their stories but the diverse analysis, yabbis, passion and insights offered by forumites.Again,The paper should have find a way to transfer the site to one of the income making platforms so that they will make passive income from the huge traffic. How much are they making from hard copies sales. This is called innovation.

      Kel,

I think some members of the NFF leaked the appointment. I doubt if all the i’s are dotted nor the t’s crossed. There is still time for the Swedish tactician to pull out of the deal.

So, there’s prudence in an outlet like Complete Sports bidding their time before running the story.

If the deal sees the light of day, then I wholeheartedly endorse it. That said, there are a few things that bother me.

Love Pinnick or hate him, the former NFF being boss never wanted to sack Gernot Rohr at the time. But he collapsed under the sheer relentless weight of pressure from the Odegbamis and Sunday Dares of this world.

      My point?

There appears to be power struggle between the NFF Chieftain, the NFF Technical Committee and the Sports Ministry. The disagreement, dysfunction and disunity between these 3 powerful stakeholders led to the employment of an unsuitable coach in Finidi and disgraceful failure to appoint a suitable replacement in a timely manner after Finidi predictably failed.

The Swedish coach is now rumoured to be the choice of NFF Chairman only with the other three options touted in the media thus far preferred by either the Sports Ministry or the NFF Technical Committee.

Now, here is the problem: I won’t be surprised if the other 2 stakeholders frustrate the efforts of the coach; I won’t be surprised if journalists are paid in some quarters to thrash this coach with Odegbami leading the charge.

I apologise but Alhaji Gusau is a bit weak at times. Will he be able to withstand pressure as long as Pinnick did? Will the new Swedish coach (with zero experience of working under such disgusting conditions) be strong enough to tough it out?

Will the new coach be accommodate undue interference in team selection whilst achieving his objectives on the pitch?

The coach plays 4-4-2 with just 2 centre backs and 2 centre midfielders. He failed with this formation between 2021 and 2023. We know that from Omeruo to Ekong and Ajayi to Bassey, all our centers backs are error prone. Even our much heralded centre forwards fire blanks in Super Eagles colours.

How come this coach will use these same players to perform wonders with a formation that recently failed him and Jose Peseiro?

I maintain my support for this appointment based on the calibre of the coach and his 2017-2020 success record with Sweden.

But it remains to be seen whether he can overcome very many obstacles and navigate through bureaucratic sludge to emerge victorious with a very troubled Super Eagles set up.

@deo, I get you point. CSN cautious, given the inconsistency, indecisiveness, and the unpredictability of the NFF. I was taking a cheeky jab at them. They’ve published the story now though with an undertone of speculation so it doesn’t stain their white if NFF pulls the rug.

I remember this coach in the dugout at the 2018 WC. I loved his temperament and the way his team played. I’m hoping he succeeds with Nigeria when the confused NFF and Sports Ministry sort their differences. I’m positive about Andersen. Hopefully he’s not another Lars Lagersbark of 2010 WC.

I remembered after the sack of Finidi the sports minister said the nff should go for a world class coach with track record. What is world class in this Anderson that his name nearly ring a bell in world football apart from his only stinct with an average Swedish national team? How is he better than the like of Rohr or Pesseiro? You see Nigeria can never be taking serious. If the sports minister can support someone who doesn’t have experience in Africa football and someone who have been out of work since 2021 as his own definition of world class coach with track record then the fans should be prepare for another heart break. We thought they will go for someone like Hector Cupper, Carlos Queiros, Herve Renard etc

You made a real point judging by his 51% win record with Sweden compared to Chelle with over 70% win record plus African experience. Anderson early stage was good with Sweden who boast of talented and highly technical players but his latter stint with Sweden was really abysmal. Like I said earlier NFF is upto something before naming a coach that wasn’t shortlisted for scrutiny. My only joy if this is true is that Anderson is far better than Tom the Philippines coach with terrible record and fact that he is subject to NFF.
