Nigerian midfielder Michael Babatunde wants to end his impressive season with a CAF Champions League title with his Moroccan club, Wyday Casablanca, reports Completesports.com.
Wydad will face reigning champions, Junior Lokosa’s Esperance, in the first leg of the final later today (Friday) in Casablanca, and the 26-year-old forward wants a big win for Wyday in the first leg to stand a good chance of landing a third African title for the club.
Wyday Casablanca have recorded only one win in their last seven outings against Esperance. They drew three games and lost three, but Babatunde who is on the cusp of joining the elite list of Nigerians who have won the lucrative CAF Champions League, says the final won’t be all about revenge but a game of wits.
“It’s beyond revenge this time,” Babatunde who has scored ten goals in all competitions for Wydad Casablanca this season told Completesports.com.
“We are motivated to win the CAF Champions League title.”
The Casablanca-based club has been champions on two occasions, in 1992 and 2017.
“We know how good and technical Esperance are, but we have to be at our best for 90 minutes and take our chances each time they come our way. He shoild score as much as we can ahead of the second leg,”
The second leg will take place on 31 May in Rades near Tunis, where Wydad have nightmarish memories from previous trips when they failed to get get good away results.
