Bayer Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz says his side were made to pay for a poor mistake during the 3-0 Champions League defeat against Juventus on Tuesday night. The Italian champions ran out comfortable winners on the night thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Federico Bernardeschi at the Allianz Arena in Turin.
Speaking after the game Bosz conceded Juve were good value for the win, but felt the game turned on one key moment and there was no way back for his side.
A poor headed clearance by Jonathan Tah fell to the ruthless Higuain, who brilliantly controlled and rifled home the opener.
The first goal was always going to be crucial and Bosz says his side must learn from the defeat if they are to become dangerous side in Europe. “We had a clear defeat,” the Leverkusen boss said after the game. “We did well in the first half but we were not able to create chances and made the mistake that led us to the goal.
“It is the difference between those who have experience in the Champions League and those who are building [in] it. This is the demonstration of challenging a team like Juventus.”
Leverkusen remain bottom of Group D after losing both of their opening games and now face a daunting double-header against Atletico Madrid.
Atletico and Juve are both on four points, with Lokomotiv Moscow in third on three points.
