Look at their squad. How many of their players are Portugal based? In their starting line up today, only center back Pepe and goalkeeper Costa are home based. Pepe who played for many years at Real Madrid, has come back home to Porto to see out his career, otherwise he too would still be playing outside Portugal. As for Costa, he was born in Switzerland, so he is Swiss with Portuguese blood.
The invitation of these 2 “local” players to the team, is obviously not to satisfy any bizarre, ridiculous home based quota, BUT IS STRICTLY BASED ON MERIT.
And what exactly is your point? At least they have 3 other players on the bench who are home based. Mind you many of the current players were home based that were unearth by Fernando Santos and whose individual talents took them to various clubs in Europe.
