Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic says he can still have a future at Anfield despite spending the last three years away from the club on loan. The 23-year-old has only made 14 appearances for the Reds since he left Red Star Belgrade in 2016.
Grujic was tempted to move to Merseyside by manager Jurgen Klopp, with the Serbia international also wanted by Inter Milan, AC Milan, Chelsea and Juventus at the time.
Although Liverpool paid £5.1million for his services, he has since spent time on loan at Red Star Belgrade, Cardiff city and Hertha Berlin.
After a successful first campaign in Germany, Grujic’s loan deal at Hertha was extended for a second season and, while he has scored two goals in seven appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, he claims his long-term future is still at Liverpool.

The Belgrade-born midfielder told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s not easy to become a part of the Liverpool squad, I can see myself in the red shirt, but I have to become more experienced before I can wear it again.
“I want to improve my physical performance and take my concentration to another level. I want to be ready for Liverpool, so I will have a chance to get into the team. “Klopp and I are texting regularly. I am also in close contact with the Liverpool loan-manager (Julian Ward), he watches every game that I’m in and we’re texting afterwards.”
Grujic’s path to the first team is currently blocked by Fabinho, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but Milner is coming to the end of his career and Lallana is being linked with the exit door, giving Grujic hope of a chance ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Grujic will need to shine in the next few months though, with his contract at Anfield set to expire in June.
