Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has revealed that his main attention is on how to save Sparta Rotterdam out of relegation in the Eredivisie and not Watford.
Okoye, who was part of the Super Eagles that crashed out in the Round of 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, made this known in a chat with Rijnmond.
He revealed that his focus is to help Sparta survive the drop this season.
“It is concerning for me that Watford is also facing relegation, but I can only help Sparta now,” Okoye told Rijnmond.
“I will do everything I can to keep Sparta in the Eredivisie. I can’t help Watford now.”
The Nigerian international has made 19 league appearances for the Dutch side, conceding 29 goals and keeping only three clean sheets.

Goal tenders Mathew Yakubu or Uzoho against the Black Stars. Okoye’s record file is defeatist.
It’s obvious some of you don’t follow these players you mention..Yakubu has not kept for his club for weeke now or even months lol.
Abi they don’t follow their players, okoye is still the best option now, then uzoho but uzoho isn’t playing as the first choice keeper
Also do everything possible to improve your confidence and your diving precision. Something tells me that with less distractions from outside world and more concentration on your career, you will be great.

Lmao I was going to say that, foreign nationals here has been laughing at Maduka that he cost us several times, and the clown thinks he has arrived. Social media goalkeeper. What I think Maduka should be talking about is on how to improve his goal keeping skills which is giving Super Eagles fans concern ahead of the double header against our eternal rivals, the Black and demon stars of Ghana. It’s really a worry we should consider as it seems is only Maduka amongst our goalkeepers in Europe that is playing regularly. Uzoho to me, brings this assurance to our defense because of his calmness and composure in goal but he isn’t a regular at cubside.
Rotterdam is closer home, close to his heart ❤️ than Watford, that’s it.
I still don’t understand who this guy must have bribed to remain in the Super Eagles till now. His mere sight is just a put off. He can’t even catch his own head let alone catch a ball. This is just disgusting !!!
Played 19 games and conceded 26 goals ,this is a very scary record ,only GOD knows how many he conceded last season and they are still battling relegation while uzoho is fighting to be league champion in Cyprus and plays quite often,I think if we want to qualify for world cup,get this dude out of our post,he has a very bad record in the national team even in his club too

Though okoye needs to improve but let me tell you the pain truth if Mendy is our keeper ones he put a foot wrong he is the worst goalkeeper on Earth in our( Nigerians) eyes .
Last year he was the eredivise best goalkeeper at the age of 21, even though he plays for a low side, yet “he needs help” you guys have serious problems you guys can’t see the save he gave at the Tunisia match it was simply sublime but it’s that goal you guys are still holding grudges on. Though humans are insatiable even if okoye is the mixture of Mendy and de gea once he makes a mistake (naturally for humans to do) he is referred to as the worst goalkeeper on Earth by we Nigerians
They should invite Adeleye from Israel to provide competition for all these useless goalkeepers.
And how are you useful for this country at least they are trying you just sit your ass down and start criticizing, which club are you because you should make up your mind to be a goalkeeper since you feel you can do better than those there ones you fall and all your knee cap and ribs tear off you will salute okoye and uzoho. Me I have experience keeping and even defending as well I am able to understand them but you just spectates you know nothing am sure you can’t even know the meters of a goalkeeping post and measure it with your house you will see what remains of your house after cutting it out, calling national players useless, even he is useless to the country as a whole mtchew
Adeleye and Uzoho are now bench warmers. Even Akpeyi is facing the sack in South Africa. Playing homebased goalkeepers is not a gamble worth taking. So we are stuck with Okoye folks.

Ode 26 in 19 and still playing for a relegation threatened side, you are wicked this record is not even up to one and half goals in a game remove the 19 games he conceded at what’s left 7 goals, and you are claiming it’s a bad record. Even though eredivise is still the league that’s has the highest goal rate and a keeper who plays for a relegation threatened side has that record and you are claiming it’s a bad record go and check illan meslier’s record he has conceded 60 goals this season he isn’t receiving criticism like this, am saying if okoye is the mixture of Mendy and de gea, once he misplaced a foot he is already a bad keeper

A goalkeeper they claim is not good is the only Nigerian keeper commanding a regular starting belt in Europe, just signed for an Epl club. I have watched this guy’s club play, i can tell the team is not solid enough to protect the keeper from conceding, nobody is even talking of the 3 clean sheets he kept, they are not even talking about the one on one save from Salah in afcon. Let me recommend this critisizers to go and watch the following games from eredivisie Sparta vs psv and Sparta vs Ajax before coming to criticize.. I know if Okoye wasn’t playing for Nigeria, many here would have been calling out his name to be included in the squad
I believe Okoye is good but not yet mature yet. He lacks concentration which is not too bad considering his age and distraction..Anguissa exposed him in the friendly with Cameroun and Msakni confirmed it.
The coaches know why they pick him because he commands his line excellently. Look at the calibre of the goalkeeper coach of Egypt and our own Alloy Agu? Judge for yourself. What happened to Rufai or Shorounmu who kept for Super Eagles in competitions.
The quality of goalkeepers trainer matter a great deal… E.g when Enrico Pionetti was our goalkeepers coach even ezenwa improved and succeeded ikeme in the last worldcup qualfiers with Flying colours… AGU is the problem… How’s he improving the grey areas in the goalkeeping of our goalies
