Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen netted the winning goal as Lille beat Brest 1-0 in their French Ligue 1 clash at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday, reports Completesports.com.
Osimhen scored the decisive goal in the 16th minute after he was set up Jonathan Ikone.
The 20-year-old has now scored nine goals and recorded three assits in 16 league appearances for Les Dogues this season.
The former Sporting Charleroi of Belgium striker is now third on the top scorers chart along with Metz’s Habibou Diallo.
Christophe Galtier’s men moved from fourth to third position in the Ligue 1 table with 28 points from 17 matches following the win.
Lille will now shift attention to Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League away fixture against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge.

Even when i know Abraham is a good striker, Osimhen will bench the hell outta Abraham with everything. This guy is a team player, his presence in the area makes defenders stand on their toes, he’s a type of bullish striker, a nice goal poacher.

When he’s not scoring he assist others to score. A team player indeed I have taken my time to watch Abraham he’s a good finisher but osimhen is a better player and better striker. His contributions in a game is out of this world. I pray for injury free career the guy is heading to the very top.
_Is Osimhen the undisputed number 9?_
Approaching 2018 World Cup, there was a mini-crisis; it appeared that we did not have credible centre forwards.
Our most potent striker at the time, Odion Ighalo, was playing and scoring in a subpar league and – in any event – wasn’t entirely potent for Nigeria.

There were trepidations in some quarters that Osimhen might not be quite ready yet or that it might take take time for him to hit the ground running.
Much to the surprise of many, Osimhen proved he was born ready! He not only hit the ground running, he caused earthquakes with performances that have made him a weapon of mass casualties!

Yes,Osimhen is doing the business for club and country however, make no mistake about it, we now have quality options breathing down his neck!
If he snoozes, he loses the number 9 slot. Osimhen, more that ever, has to always be on top of his game.
