Immediate past Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has expressed optimism that the newly appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko, has what it takes to advance Nigerian sports, Completesports.com reports.
Musa conveyed this sentiment when, in the company of another former Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi, he paid a courtesy visit to the new NSC Chairman on Monday in Abuja.
Ahmed Musa, currently the most capped Super Eagles player and making waves with NPFL club Kano Pillars, said he felt it essential to show his support for the NSC Chairman, a former Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation.

“I am here to show solidarity and support to our NSC boss, Shehu Dikko, and wish him the very best. I believe Dikko will steer sports in the right direction, and I am here on behalf of all Nigerian footballers to pledge my loyalty and support to him,” Musa said.
In response, Dikko expressed his appreciation for Musa’s visit, highlighting the significance of top athletes supporting the NSC’s mission.
“The support of Ahmed Musa and indeed all Super Eagles players is invaluable as we look to transform Nigerian sports. Our goal is to develop a system that values our athletes and creates a clear pathway for sports to thrive. Having distinguished players like Musa engaged in this process is key to achieving that,” Dikko stated.
The visit reflects trust in the new direction of the Commission, welcoming athletes’ contributions as Dikko aims to implement lasting changes that will benefit Nigerian sports from grassroots development to the elite level.
