The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has rescheduled the matchday-8 fixture between Akwa United and Rangers International billed for Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo to Monday, 21 October 2024, Completesports.com reports.
Originally slated for Sunday, 20 October, the match was moved due to Akwa United’s late return to base following a long trip to Katsina, where they faced Katsina United in a Matchday-7 encounter on Wednesday.
Akwa United lost 1-0 to Katsina United.
“Yes, the match has been shifted to Monday,” confirmed Patrick Mfom, the club’s spokesman.
Meanwhile, Rangers suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat to visiting Kano Pillars in another Matchday 7 fixture at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, last Wednesday.

Akwa United’s Technical Adviser, Mohammed Babaganaru, will be absent from the dugout when the Promise Keepers host the Coal City Flying Antelopes, Rangers International, in the 2024/2025 NPFL matchday-8 fixture scheduled at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Babaganaru will miss the crucial tie due to the passing of his sister.
“No, I won’t be available for the match,” Babaganaru told Completesports.com on Sunday morning.
“I lost my sister, so I left immediately after our match against Katsina United. The management of Akwa United kindly granted me permission to attend the burial. I won’t be in Uyo for the match against Rangers.”
Completesports.com understands that Assistant Coach Abdullahi Umar will take charge on Monday when the Promise Keepers face Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Rangers.
Rangers International have won the NPFL seven times, while Akwa United claimed the title once in the 2020/2021 season.
