WAFU B U-20: Flying Eagles Defeat Niger Republic 3-1, To Face Ghana Final

    James AgberebiBy James AgberebiOctober 27, 2024Updated:October 27, 202433 Comments1 Min Read

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles came from a goal down to defeat Niger Republic in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B tournament in Togo on Sunday.

The win means the Flying Eagles have qualified for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The coach Aliyu Suberu-led team will now take on rivals Ghana in the final on Wednesday.

To get to the final, Ghana defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in the first semi-finals also played on Sunday.

The Flying Eagles would hope to defend their WAFU Zone B title which they won in 2022 under Ladan Bosso.

Meanwhile, next year’s U-20 AFCON will serve as qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

I hope ethnic jingoists would henceforth learn to judge a coach not by his ethnicity nor his religion, but by his antecedents and records.

Aliyu Zubairu once again deserves a huge pat on the back for qualifying us for an u20 afcon we have no business qualifying for.

Congratulations to the team and good luck in the final when they meet our arch rivals Ghana once again.

If anything after their first loss it was you and your tyrant cronies that came oozing with your premature analysis. Now did he pepper if not your and the follow follow dude who does not know our to recognise a nonsense fellow. The Burkina Faso Nigeria u20 thread is there for all to see mr Liar.

To make matters worse the two involved in this madness are the same pretenders coming here to hail the team and claim he has peppered some fans. You’re not just a clown but a liar as well which makes you Weirdo as I’ve always tagged you. I called coache Aboki when he was failing but same me credited the Aboki for having my boy Kparobo Ariehi in the team. I know that you will start hating Kparobo now that he is affiliated to excellence because evil people don’t like Excellence. Na who them come dey pepper if no be you idiot. I don’t have to write much because I know scoundrel than anyone does on this page!

“…Finally Kparobo Arierhi the heir to Osimhen has been given a national call-up. I pray he delivers like he always does at the grassroots league…”

How is this statement of complete 100% eulogy of Kparobo Arierhi a commendation or an act of crediting Aliyu Zubairu…..LMAOOOoo

Hahahaha….emptily pompous self aggradizing lying fool is seeking validation with Kparobo Arierhi…..LMAOooo. He wants to paint himself as being supportive of Zubairu the way he falsely paints himself as being supportive of OSimhen…..LMAOooo

You should have just claimed you scouted and groomed Kparobo by yourself from cradle to teenage….LMAOoo.

Pls leave that kid’s name out of your rotten mouth you filthy pig and dont jaundice his destiny like you destroyed the destinies of your tin-gods Isaac Success and Musa Muhammed….Isaac Success is far better than Ighalo…..LMAOoo…..Musa Muhammed is far better than Ola Aina…..LMAOooo

By the powers of whatever powers Kparobo worships, I detach him, his destiny and his promising career from any yoke with you. May he never have to be associated with you or struggle in life like you to the point where getting an entry visa to another country will be so much of an achievement for him.

Aboki has shoved humble pies down your bitter throat…..LMAOoo. Northern coach eventually qualified for AFCON.

I hope you won’t claim you assembled the entire U20 team for him when he qualifies for the World Cup, this one you are already laying claims to Kparobo Arierhi.

Your criticisms are never rooted in genuine passion; stop lying. You are extremely tribalistic and view everything through that lens, attacking anyone who disagrees with you. You’re educated, so I expected better. By the way, I’m also not a big fan of Dr. Drey—he believed everything revolved around Rohr and wouldn’t let go soon enough—but you’re even worse.

I have doubted the team’s progress and I am happier to be wrong than right as a patriotic Nigerian. Only a pretender will change narratives just to shield away from his own words. Congratulations to the team for making it to u20 Afcon where I hope they’ll continue improving and making themselves proud. As for the above trouble maker I will not go into debate with you but when I have the time I will expose you again, until then I have something important doing than engaging in a disrespectful back and fort conversation with a Classless Weirdo.

CSN is an open forum…please copy and paste the so-called “doubting words of the pretender against Zubairu” and let the entire world see whose the cheap lying bastard tramp between you and I.

I challenge you to “expose the trouble maker” you are refering to. LMAOoo

Shameless village boy. Pompous Illiterate pauper. The manner in which you use the word “Weirdo” repeatedly on this forum shows you don’t even know its real meaning….LMAOoo. Better stop lying to yourself about those fake degrees you are claiming to have and go get some quality education you little idiot, so you can stop being a disgrace to humanity.

How not to prepare for a major tournament

          1. Appoint a coach 1 month to the tournament

          2. Assemble a team haphazardly based on referals and not on intensive scouting and screening.

          3. Play all kinda mushroom academies in friendlies rather than teams that will provide similar level of opposition as your real tournament opponents would.

If only you understand English….you will know that what you have just pasted here out of desperation is not directed at the coach or in anyway undermining the competence or abilities of the coach but the FA….LMAOoo

You have scoured the whole internet and could not find anywhere when I insulted or doubted Aliyu Zubairu and then copied one of my many posts on the poor preparations NFF has been handing to our youth teams….LMAOoo

          Cheap liar is desperately desperate….LMAOoo

Mr, go and look for comments where I “Doubted the Coach” and stop wasting our time…..LMAOoo

@Chima E Samuels,as learned as you claim you’re yet you can’t comprehend or even decipher what Dr.Drey posted or commmunicated in his clearly written post? You’re just everywhere chatting sh.t making no sense, that’s why i don’t respond to your nonesense most of the time because you simply don’t make any sense..
Do you have to drag people along after Zubairu cause you to feel small by feeding and choking you with a humble pie?The coach has put you to shame and cut you to sizes after your bigotry and please do not get others involved.
Apparently,i’m one of those who lauded the coach and his wards and i wrote in my post after the Ivory Coast game the team needed more quality test games to soar,i also mentiond the playing pitch as lacking international standards. When Zubairu was being reprimanded i was the very few who stick up for him,i let the lads know he wasn’t a bad coach not after winning the f.a cup go back and make your findings.

Hahahahahaa…..Greenturf, are you surprised he transitioned from being a graduate of Oil and Gas Managment to being a graduate of Petroleum Engineering within 2 weeks, yet cannot comprehend simple English….LMAOoo

He was so desperate to save his lying face he just copied and pasted anything he could find as evidence that Dr.Drey ‘doubted’ the coach…..LMAOoo

Even an elementary school kid understands that comment hook line and sinker and knows it wasn’t directed at or in any way aimed at questioning the coach’s competence or doubt about his abilities.

And cant we all see how the team has been getting better with more time together and after playing against way more quality oppositions than the mushroom academies arranged for them to face in pre tournament friendlies by the NFF….?

Even dumb fools who have been regular readers on this forum can attest to how much Ive been complaining about preparations of not only this u20 team, but also the CHAN, U17s and even the Flacons in the lead up to the Olympics

But hey, the humble pie served that pompous pauper by an ‘Aboki’ is too heavy for him to swallow and hence wants people he can sink together with himself…..LMAOoo.

Left to him, a northerner has no right to coach Nigerian national teams, even if he just won the FA cup and gained promotion from the 2nd division in the same season. Only coaches from his side of the country are good enough.

And now that the ‘northern coach’ has humiliated him, we should not celebrate the man……LMAOoo

God bless you for your objective submission. Nigeria is the only team among the 7 nations that participated that had late preparation. The team hurriedly assembled in under a month, while countries like Ghana and Ivory Coast camped for more than six months. Ghana went to an overseas camp, and Ivory Coast attended an invitational tournament in Europe. Coach Zubairu must be commended for the results he was able to get in the game against Ivory Coast and Niger. I sincerely like the way the boys played – at some point, I thought I was watching Man City in action.

I hope smart people will refer to old archives to decipher the truth for themselves and see who are the real predators or pretenders. As for me I say it as it is because nobody understands my ties with Nigeria football, lol it’s not everything that must be revealed before people will know those mean good!

How’s an Aboki the best candidate to unearth Talents in a nation like Nigerian when we have far smarter men doing great in NNL and Amateur league, another World Cup is about to elude us if we loose this match. Caf zonal thing has really exposed our flaws because before we gel due to late preparation we’re already kicked out by our more serious West African rivals. Both NFF and their northern coach must be held responsible if we fail to goto Afcon talkless of WC.

What’s wrong with us in Nigeria? Why the ethnic coloration of the coach? I am not saying he is the best coach but the ethnicity is totally uncalled for. Please desist.

Smart people will definitely be able to tell who is casting doubts and aspertions on the coach out of their tribal and ethnic bigotry….LMAOoo.

Someone even tried to reprimand you for your stupidity.

Indeed the truth is always in the archives….the internet never lies nor forgets.

So between you and I who doubted THE COACH….LMAOoo…who doubted his competence on simply on the basis of his ethnicity and the region he hails from…Who called him all sorts of names and referred to him as a “northern coach”

Thank you for once again disgracing and exposing yourself, shooting yourself, in the foot and exonerating me….LMAOoo

Cheap lying Idiot could not find any comment where I ever doubted, blamed or insulted the coach and went to copy my comment that was focused on their preparations for the tournament….something I’ve complained about even before the coach was appointed….LMAOoo

Or is it not evident now that if the team had even just 1 or 2 more weeks of preparations for the tournament, they would have performed even better….?!

As if your NPFL teams have been winning CAF club competitions for 10 years back to back. Is it not the same 1st round 3 out of your 4 representatives always crash out every damn year…?!

You just read up there that he gained promotion with Elkanemi and lifted the FA the same season.

So basically he took a 2nd division team to the continent.

But all that doesn’t matter to you…that isn’t a good enough achievement to merit the U20 job…..only his ethnicity his your first concern.

How are you different from racists in Europe….??

But Eguavoen [South], Ilechukuwu [South], Ogumodede [South], Baruwa [South] and the last person [South too] were all appointed into the SE recently and all of you regional jingoists kept mute.

Why are you all now raising dust the other national teams have coaches from the north.

Does the south have sole custody of competent coaches in Nigeria….?

The question you should be asking is if they are occupying those positions on merit and if they have the capacity to deliver…….not what part of the country they come from…?!

This sorts of mentality is really disgusting to say the least.

Dont give us the excuse of temporary appointment….if they were all northerners, you wouldn’t keep mute as you have kept mute. And I dare say that crew looks very much like the crew that will prosecute the afcon qualifiers…..so whether temporary or permanent, the SE technical crew will be an ALL SOUTHERNER AFFAIR.

And if they go on to qualify for the AFCON, do you think they will be dissolved and again reconstituted before march when the world cup qualifiers resume…???

As much as you are accusing Gusau of being a jingoist, you too are not different from him.

You have quickly made up an excuse for losing your voice having an all southerner SE technical crew [who I wish to say are there on merit too] but raise dust because a man who has just achieved promotion and FA cup title with a club like Elkanemi of maiduguri has been appointed as u20.

You even laughably refer to Rohr’s time, when Alloy Agu, Ike Shorunmun, and Tunde Aluko [or whatever was his name] were also in that crew while the team’s media officer was this Yoruba journalist from Channels and succeeded by another Yoruba journalist from Brilafm Babafemi Raji

Ilechukwu won the league – has he not been rewarded with a SE role despite struggling to defeat a comoros club…?!
Ogunmodede was league runner up – has he also not been rewarded with a national team role despite being eliminated too….?!

You never raised dust over the appointment of any of the above, but Zubairu being similarly rewarded is making you so bitter….?!

You know what that is called brother….. BIGOTRY, yea….ETHIC AND REGIONAL BIGOTRY. And it doesn’t fit you. Grow from it.

As I said before, The questions you should be asking is if these newly employed coaches occupying those positions merit their appointments and if they can deliver….not what part of the country they come from…!

The fact that you’ve not even asked those questions till now, shows where your grouse really lies.

I wonder if some people realize this team is genuinely barely over 3 weeks old.

Do you think raising a football team is a plug-and-play endeavor, or getting 21 odd strangers to play together for the first time in their lives is like playing video games…? No less throwing them in the deep end from the get go in winner takes all competitive qualifying matches…??

We should be praising these coaches who get appointed barely a month to the tournament and still manage to assemble players, screen, sieve, raise a team and manage to get their respective teams to the semis from a strong regional bloc like the WAFU B.

Once again , thanks to aliyu zubairu for forcing humble pies down their bitter throats. Even against all odds “Aboki northern coach” has scaled through the tough hurdle of WAFU B qualifiers despite his late appointment and poor preparations from the NFF.

That illiterate that is looking for a rope to hang Dr.Drey for being supportive of this “aboki” ßhould try harder, rather than posting comments that exonerate him….LMAOoo.

I initially had doubts about the coach after the first game and I had lost faith in the team but I have to commend the coach for this come back. The NFF should seriously take preparations for our national teams serious….This fire brigade approach is just irresponsibility on their part.

You go dey trust NFF? You get mind. Imagine right now NFF have not “disturbed” CAF on the status of Manu Garba’s under 17 Golden eaglets squad. They have not even thought of organizing friendlies for them when THEY KNOW CAF will ultimately admit them to AFCON next year.

Glasshouse and throwing coaches under the bus are Siamese puppies. They will never change, as presently constituted.

The only “GOOD” achievement they have done is they are NO LONGER SPENDING “their own money” to pay foreign coaches. They are swimming with “our own” until it will backfire big time.

Unfortunately, they will not be the people on the gallows. Sad.

The transformation of the team is truly remarkable from a tactically bereft outfit to a solid side with the sinews of technical integrity.

Well done to coach Aliyu for unlocking the killer instincts in the team.

What is quite remarkable is their industry and ability to batten down the hatches and grind out wins against the odds.

It is success like this that makes NFF VERY ALLERGIC to early preparations, even when the teams allowances and emoluments are perpetually owed them.

I hope the team creates more history but we know what will follow next: spirits and ghosts will reap where they did not sow by displacing most of the current team list for AFCON under 20 and the coach will be helpless. NFF is problematic

Well lets hope they will have enough time to camp before the tournament proper. To be candid there was nothing spectacular about the team. Agreed they were assembled hurriedly, there display was amateurish.
